From awesome to good to bad to frustrating

Ok. I'm so so so sorry! I know it's been a long time since I have written a new post. In fact it's been a way to long. A lot has happened since I smacked on some "slap yo momma good" brisket. Let's see, Kris went on Vicarage, the high school football season ended, the NFL season came and went, I've done my SET's and I've had interviews for my call. In a little more than two weeks I will know where my first call is...I will for sure tell all of you guys where that is at. I have a pretty good idea where I going to go...but I will wait and tell you guys a little later.
What does the title mean you may ask. Let me explain. Last week, my buddy Matt Schilling organized a weekend excursion for all of us 4th/5th years that went to CUW. Kinda like a last hurrah before our calls. And did we ever have a ball. We went to Altenberg, the birth place of the LCMS. We had a 181 acers of farm land to roam. Friday night we burned a piano...yes that's right we burned a piano. It was crazy. Saturday, we did sightseeing and got a education of the first Lutheran German settlers....it was pretty cool. After that we went to Lamberts. That's right home of the thrown rolls. They throw rolls at you...and they are so good...with sourgram molasses. Mmmmmmmmm so so good. Lamberts, it's my new favorite restaurant. That night we burned a cattle shoot. That's right a cattle shoot. After that we on Sunday we went to worship, and then went to a Pancake breakfast. That was the awesome part. The good part was arriving here at the seminary and having a good week....until Friday.
Friday, I was on Clayton trying to take care of tax stuff. By the end of the day, I had my taxes still needing to be done, and a ticket courtesy of Clayton Police Department. That was bad and frustrating. But I'm over it.

The shout out for this post goes out to Greg, Jamie, Naomi, and the newest addition to that familyMicah. Congatrs to you, I'll keep y'all in my prayers. Peace.

Slap yo momma good!!!

to be sung to the tune of Snoop Doggy Dogg's Gin and Juice.

Sitting in front of iso
smokin briskit
sipping on P B R
laid back
with my mind on nothin,
and nothin on my mind!!!

Ahhh, yes that was how I spent my Labor Day this year. Chris Brynstead, my adopted lil' brother, went out to SAMS yesterday, to start marinateing and cooking brisket. Texas Style!!!
Today he got up and from about 9:45 in the AM, till 6:00 in the PM he cooked up some Brsiket for us guys. Free of charge, just out of the goodness of his omn hear. With all the crap I have to deal with here at the sem, it's good to a lil goodness in hearts.
It was soooooooooooooooooooooo good. It was "slap yo momma good"!!!! What's that, when the food is so good it makes you wanna go home and slap yo momma. Therefore making it "slap yo momma good"!!!!
Labor Day has always been the end of fummer for me, and spending it with my friends, chomping on some "slap yo momma good" Brisket was not a bad way to spend it. From the bottom of my heart, thanks Brynstead. Tomarrow I start class, that'll be really weird right after Vicarage. I pray the prayer Nehamiah prayed in Chapter 6:9 "strengthen my hands!"
Let's see, the shoutout for this post goes out to ALL of the returning Vicars coming back to class, it will not easy...keep you nose to the grindstone.
Be good to each other!!

TWO A DAYS

107 degree heat index
97 degrees in the shade
Full pads
coach thinks you need to pick it up
underclassmen wants your starting job
your learning a new offense

WELCOME TO LUTHERAN SOUTH FOOTBALL!!!

Last week we started two a days at South. As a coach I love this time of the year, the first clashing of the pads, the endless possibilties, and new jargon to be learned in Chalk talk, and the out of shape slackers puking after or during conditioning. Ha I love it. I am the O & D line coach along with the special teams cordinator. We are learning a new offense, and working with very young kids. I must admit, I really love coaching freshman, it involves a whole lot of teaching and true coaching. We (Lutheran South) need a whole lo of work still. Some people that we thought would show up to play, have instead proven to be disappointing at best. Others came in tremedously out of shape...we had a new puking record...can you believe a kid puked during stretching....he claimed he swallowed a bug...yeah right. However, some of these kids have simply come to play, and that is a trully a beautiful thing to see. I love the challenge of getting these kids excited about Special teams. However, we wont know if this season was sucessful or not, until 20 years from now, and we can see what kind of men we have developed.
Our motto this year is to Honor God. Win or loose. We praise God in victory and in defeat. It is good and refreshing to be coaching again with coaches that have this as a priority. The main reason that I coach, is to influence kids with God's love, I think coaching is a great way to do that (look at Tony Dungy). I am currently reading a book called Season of Life, By Jeffrey Marx. In this book we read how Joe Ehrmann a former Baltimore Colt and minister, devotes his life to teahing men a whole new meaning of manculinity through High School football.
Due to the intense heat, we had had to move practices to 6:30 in the AM now. Two a days ended on Monday, but the season has just begun, and it'll be a blast this year, I can already tell.

Because of the intense heat for this post, the shout out goes to all of those that have to work outside to make a living. Mailcarriers, construction workers, service people, all of you busting your hump in this heat....be safe.

Be good to one another.

A sad day in sports history.

The date is August 5, 2007. I think that this past two or three months will go down as some of the darkest days in pro sports, wether it be football, baseball, or basketball. Nobody would want to be the commish or any of these at this point in history. There has been a refree caught gambling in games that he was involved in, one of the faces of the NFL has been indicited on cahrges of illegal dogfighting, and last night somewhere I have to believe that ol' Hammering Hank was sick to his stomach. As the ultimate villan Barry Bonds stands a top of the hill with him. This hill is the hill of the most hallowed record in sports today. The home run record. Yesterday should have been a happy day in Sports. Possibly the greatest Offensive Lineman to ever strap on pads Bruce Matthhews, was inducted into the Hall of Fame, along with a other deserving elite players from the past including Michael Irvin. A-rod hit number 500, but yet all that was over shadowed by Barry Bonds taking his oversized head, and sysenthetically manufactured biceps and hit homerun number 755. When you look at what Hank Aaron with through to get that record, and how much class he did it with, in the face of all the racism and crap that he had to put up with, and now we want to crown this steroid incduced villan as the Homerun king....forget it Barry...it aint gonna happen, not in my book. Babe Ruth did it with beer and Hotdogs, Hank Aaron did it with class...Barry, what did you do it with. Mark Twain once said there are three types of liars. Liars, damn liars, and stats. According to the record books, stats will one day lie again when it reports on who the Homerun king is....but only for a few years, will that record will be broken by a kid breathing down Barry's neck...that is doing it the right way.

The shootout for this post goes to my Dad and stepmom, who helped me move back to STL. While it was a hard move, and my Dad and I argue, and thank the Lord for him giving them to me.

Be good to one another.

Vaction...at the cradle of pro football!!!!

Thanks to internet being available in rooms at hotels, people are now able to hit you with a blog from the comfort of their hotel room. Which is where I am coming from right now.
I am taking my vaction in Canton, Ohio. Now while most people would be totally dumbfounded as to why I would vaction in Canto Ohio...read the title of this entry. I am on day three of my six day Vaction and I am loving it, this is the first vaction in which I am taking alone, all I am having a blast doing what I want to do.

Day one
I did something that I have wanted to do evey since I was in eigth grade. I went to the Pro Football Hall Of Fame. Man I loved it! I arrivied at 9 when the doors opened and left at a quarter to 7. I easily could've stayed to eight. They had so much stuff to look at and interact with. I got to see the many exhibits that they have up, like the deatiled start of football. Accounts of the game from legends like Jim Thorpe and George Halas. Exhibts on every team in the NFL. Thousands upon thousnds of old artifcats, like the uniform Walter Payton was wearing when he broke the record or the coin that George W. Busch used in the first and suprisingly only time a current U.S. Presdient particapated in a coin toss for the NFL. I spent hours in the Hall of Fame Gallery where I saw the many sculpted bronze likeness of every Hall of Fame enshrinee, and rubbed all the ones that I wanted to. Some of those included Thrope, Lombardi, Landry, Butkus, Halas, Greene, Unitas, Dick nightrain Lane, Munoz, Brown, Payton, Fritz Pollard, and the one that probally meant the most to me...Reggie White. Those were just a few amongst the many. I watched excitng film footage of all of these and other enshrinees. I spent multiple viewings in the Gameday Stadium Theartes watching film courtesy of the NFL films. Which by the way rotates 180 degrees. It was good to see the sections dedicated to impact black players had on the game. I could go on and on and on....but I just wanna say one more thing about it. For years and years I wanted to go with my father, and we never ended up going. If I would've went with my father I dont think I would've enjoyed it as much, simply becasue he would've been bored to tears. I f you totally really love football...go during the summer... go by yourself, or with somebody who loves football as much as you,,,so you can truly enjoy it.

Day two
I had my own personal tour of the Clevland Browm Stadium. Some of the hot spots on the tour included the Browns Locker Room, the new HUGE Dawg Pound, the Press box, and the luxury seating. I have plenty of pictures and can barely wait to get them developed. While I enjoyed the tour, the guy giving the tour was dryer than the Sahara Desert.

Day Three
I am still in Day Three, but I had the oppurtunity to sit and relax, and do some studying, some praying, and some reflecting. I really enjoyed being able to do that, just sitting and thinking....spending quality time in the word, and quality time in Prayer. I've done that today, and will continue to after I post this as well as tomarrow. Friday I plan to go up to Clevland and visit Greal Lakes Brewery...man they make great beer!!!

My shoutout this post goes out to Tom A. in my youth group. We had a Lock-in a couple of weeks ago (it went smoothly for all of you that I asked help for) and while at the minature golf place, him and engaged in a awesome shoot out in the Alien resurecttion game. I told him I would shout him out in my next blog, and didn't get around to it till now.
I will keep y'all updated on my vaction.

Be good to each other.

Take care

Mom is Awesome baby, with a captiol A!!!

Happy Mothers Day to all of you mothers out there. If you are wondering about my Title, it's because well, it is Mothers Day, but also, this weekend was the first night I slept with my Dick Vitale Alarm clock. It's great, it looks like a scoreboard. You set the alarm, and he (Dick Vitale) gives you a 2-minute warning before you wake up. Their are 13 different alarms all with Dick Vitale voice, such as "Shake and Bake, time to wake" or "It's the Vitalion Stallion, telling you to getty up getty up getty up". A lot of fun. Since I like the clock so much in honor of Dick Vitale, I will give a "stock up stock down" report on various things on my mind. However on a much serious note, read the Shout out of the day, that is coming straight from the heart.

Stock up: the weather here in Homewood Illinois. Stock down: the dandelions in my yard. Stock down :Curt Schilling and his rant against Barry Bonds, (I don't like Barry Bonds) Curt I don't like Barry Bonds, but you cant say those things. Stock up: Curt Schlling apology afterwards. Stock up: the Cowboys Draft, we got some great prospects, a kids that just love to play football. Stock down: the Eagles Draft, Kevin Kolb....what no faith in McNabb? Stock up: all of the youth that came to Bible Study this morning, stock down: all of you that did not....you gotta come to Bible Study Baby....Stock up the Dicky V alarm clock...buy one baby it's awesome at http://dickvitaleonline.com/ .

The shout for this does not got out to all the moms today. Mothers you have your day, and I encourage you to enjoy it. However the shout out for this day goes out to all of the women that sadly enough for what ever reason, either cant have kids, or have lost kids due to miscarriage and the like. Just to raise awareness, I am only 26 and know two women that have had to deal with it. It's real, and today is hard for them, nobody ever thinks about them. I have to stop before I start to cry (seriously). To the the women out there hurt by this day, you are in my prayers, and I hope one you will be able to know they joy that so many mothers experience today.

PS Once again I dont understand the whote spot at the top of my blog. Dangit!!

Take Care

I'm so happy for you guys because the season is finally underway, I know how happy I am when the Football season strats so this post is for you. I am personally going through football season withdrawls, but the NFL Network helps take the edge of some. I had a vsion the other day of you guys all having a Show on ESPN where you alk about Baseball the whole time. Mark would complain about the ESPN east coast bias, Greg would comment on the obscure history of the Game, Muller would offer up his social commentary on how Baseball affects our culture today, Scott would be the comic relief, and Nate would be mediator of the whole deal. Just want to let you guys know that I am thinking about you on this opening day (even though the frist game was last night) and giving you all my Signature Homerun call: BUY THAT MAN A BREWSKIE.
The shoutout for this post goes to HBK. He lost the main event last night at Wrestlmania 23, despite being in control of the match the whole time and a favorite of the fans. I now it's wrestling, but it's my blog, and my shoutout goes to him.
Be good to each other.
